Is it best to buy something like Johnsons lawn seed or will B & Q's own brand do the job just aswell ?

I used Wilkinsons own brand (under £5 for a massive box) yesterday, will let you know in a week or so if its killed the moss/improved the grass etc

Also I have turned the soil over is there anything I should add before seeding ?

we used wilkinsons shaded area grass seed 2 years ago under a big tree we have on one side of the garden, it took well, and now have a lovely green grass with no patches.

I will be using Lidls lawn seed in the next week or so. I'll be able to report back in a few weeks. Doesnt really help th OP though!

I used B&Q's own a few years back. Started with a brown garden and ended up with a green one, so it's OK!

The finished product quality is not as good as the higher grade varieties (either in feel or look), but unless you want a bowling green for a garden, own brands would be fine.
