M77 - Unmarked Police presence.
Discussion
I drive the M77 daily and have definetley noticed this week round about Silverburn an increased level of unmarked Police presence in their dark blue/ black 3 Series Saloon and Touring.
This morning they had the marked Shogun sitting on the Northbound carraigeway just at Silverburn watching the cars going Southbound and the unmarked 3 Series Touring hiding on the Southbound slip road at Silverburn.
Keep the speed down round about that area!!

How is this for a sneaky set up??????
I spotted a camera van just before the Drumchapel flyover on Gt Western Rd., as I aproached over the brow of the hill before the Police station, back window open and camera visible.
As I closed in on the camera van it became clear that there were also 2 marked 5 series saloons parked in very tight in front of the van.
Now here is the twist.... 5 traffic officers on the opposite side of the road, 1 with a handheld speed detector and the others flagging down speeders and other `interesting` vehicles for inspections.
I guess the tactic is to park the vehicles on the opposite side of the carrigeway to fool the unwary into expecting `their` side to be trouble free!
Worth bearing this in mind, I think.

Cutting through EuroCentral tonight I had to stand on the brakes when I saw in the distance 2 hi vis jackets, one with a radar gun in hand.
Reckon I would have been around 40 when within their range but thankfully didn't get pulled!
They've been out a few times recently at different points in EuroCentral. Always in marked cars and hi-vis though and with the open areas and long straight roads they're not too hard to spot from distance.Reckon I would have been around 40 when within their range but thankfully didn't get pulled!
Strathclyde have reviewed their traffic operating bases recently. One is based at Pollock i.e. Silverburn. Have also devolved it to local commanders to manage so more inclined to be forced to stay in each area e.g. pollock, than drift over divisional borders into the City Centre or down to Ayrshire. Exception is the newly appoined ANPR units who are force wide. They will operate a spotter vehicle and a host of runners in cars or bikes.

In a city that is rife with drug dealers and users, I'm glad they are using resources so well :-(
who remembers GLC? I'm pretty sure we could get a rap going:"Drugs don't kill people speeders do"
That's an easy one, its much easier to sit in the car eating pies and target drivers than putting together a real case on the dealers.
