This happened to the car yesterday, truck drove past and did this to the boot, I think the jagged edges mean I can't use it - any opinions?

yes

old car passed its MOT with tape over a dangerous bit of bodywork, duct tape does the job beautifully.

WTF, how did it manage to do that to the boot lid, but nothing to the lip spolier or the lights? Honest question smile

Fortunately there is a brand of ducT tape called ducK tape, so you can get away with it when you make a daft blunder tongue out

It went alongside it whilst it was parked in the work car park, i suspect he was reversing out and stopped once he realised what he'd done, hence it only being on the edge. Lucky he didn't catch the lights really, i'm just on with his insurance company now and apparently he's not 'confirmed the claim yet'...

You're OK bud. It is actually duck tape, 'duck' is the brand name. People just assume it's called duct tape, easily done.

Nope, it is duct tape, duck is just a specific brand of duct tape. Has loads of different names mind.

Just call it gaffa tape (or is it gaffer tape? silly)

Use some black tape and it won't attract enquiring glances.

At least the new boot lid will save you having to get that bird st sorted, that's probably marked the panel by now frown

I think I'd be more concerned about the truck driving about with a bloody sharp bit sticking out.
