GT5 Nurburg production car lap times...

After getting the Trofhy for a lap time of 7:25 in the GT-R, I have been taking other standard production cars to the track.

The problem lies in that I found the lap times http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N%C3%BCrburgring_lap_... but I seem to be running faster. For example M3 V8 time is 8:05, I am doing it around the 7:50s

I always do standing starts at the start line, is this right? because FORZA 3 and GT5 have different start lines.

What am I doing wrong? or is the game faster than real-life?

I think it is faster yes, especially as Production car lap times are timed on a flying lap.

What tyres are you using?

I am using which ever tyres they come on, I just change the oil, turn everything off then go for a blat.

I was pretty disappointed to be a lot quicker, I was looking forward to see how far off I was then trying to improve!

I'm using a Driving Forse GT

Doesn't the GTR lap trophy specify the tyres needed? I'd have thought it was either comfort soft, or sports hard.

If you are beating the times easily make sure you aren't on really sticky tyres.

Don't forget, on a game you have nothing to lose... in real life, you have your car and life to destroy. You wil; push a lot harder in a simulation to real life.

Everything standard, I am using the standard tyres. eg M3 - Sports hard etc

The GTR trophy is to completed on the standard tyres, Sports medium (I think)

That's what I think too, no dougt if I was to take an M3 round that track, at those speeds, I would be making buttons in the seat!!

All cars come with Sports hard, but in fact you should be using Comfort Mediums or Comfort Softs.

IMO Comfort Medium is akin to your average road tyre with Comfort Soft being a little more performance orientated.

A Sports Hard tyre is similar to your average track tyre.

Also, changing the oil gives you a significant uplift in performance over standard, so it's no wander you're beating the real world times.

^^^ EXCELLENT BIT OF ADVISE GP ^^^

I did as you said and changed them all to Comfort Mediums and limited the power to the manufactures power.


It has completely changed the cars, they are 3x as much fun as they were with Sports tyres. Comforts don't quite 'turn-in' or brake like the Sports but what they do offer is a much more progressive feel, which is far more enjoyable!

Also I have gone from being 5-15 seconds quicker than the production times to about 15 seconds slower, which strangely I am happy about as it makes the game seem more realistic.

Best bit about the comforts though has to be their ability to slide!
