What would you choose, and why: s2000, Z4 2.5, VX220 2.2

I'm having trouble choosing my next car, so which of the three would you choose and why?
- Rev 2 Honda S2000
- BMW Z4 2.5
- VX220 2.2 n/a
A few points to consider - it will be used for a short commute to work twice a week (I cycle most of the week) and weekend fun so MPG not a huge issue. 8k budget, and this car will replace both my current cars so needs to be at least as practical as the '5. No kids and I'm 30 so child seats and insurance aren't too much of a worry....

- Rev 2 Honda S2000 very good cars, fun to drive , great engines, great sound. Although it's driving still that it demands is not to everyone's taste.
- BMW Z4 2.5 - Z4 has to be the 3.0
- VX220 2.2 n/a Also very good fun cars to drive.
I'd suggest test drive both and decide which you like most as the driving styles required are different etc.

Could be a smidgeon over budget have not driven one but if its like any other BM the difference will be noticeable. Does the 2.5 feel gutless then?

2.5 is not gutless, the z4 is a brilliant car, you need the 2.5 or 3.0, i wouldnt have a 2.0 as it dosent sound so good, you need streight 6.
drove the s2000 and didnt like the way it drove, you gotta ring it's neck to get anything out of it, becomes very tedious after a while, its hard work, and the cabin is very cramped.
never been in a vx220 but i supose its very much like an elise, fine for a weekend car but i wouldnt want to drive it everyday.
z4 is the best looking, with 108 bbs wheels.

other than that, VX probably the best drivers car out of that bunch.
I like the S2000 but for me it is too much of a middle man, with a reputation of liking to go backwards when you were already going forwards!
Z4 - Probably take the 3.0 over the S2000 as I think the V-Tec 9000rpm might make for a tiring drive? (correct me if wrong though).
S2000 all day for me (which is lucky as I've got one! 
).
Practical and reliable enough for the week, and more than enough fun for the weekends.
In comparison to the other two, the Z4 would be slow (3.0 would be a better match) and not as fun or raw a driving experience (considering you do minimal commuting in it), and the VX while probably ultimately more fun at 10/10ths, you may tire pretty quickly of trying to clamber in and out of it on a daily basis, the crap heater, and personally I'd be scared to pack it anywhere because one careless twunt damaging the clam may cost you £££££s
edited to add: ignore the doomsayers about dying in the s2k, you could die in 1.0 city car if you drove like a t
t. Respect the fact you have 245bhp rwd car with no traction control, drive accordingly, and make sure you don't buy Linglong tyres then you will not have any problems at all

All good choices, I'm slightly biased so I won't offer any choices but I can tell you what it's like to live with a VX - I only use mine on weekends although occasionally I'll take it to work and back for a week (~130 miles to the digs for work, a few miles commuting in it) - no problems, it can get a little cold sometimes but in a coat or jacket there's no problem. Visibility is surprisingly good, although you need to make sure you check your blindspots as things can be hidden behind the window, and the ride, while firm, doesn't cause any aches or pains, even after 2 and a bit hours on the motorway. Also a bit rarer than a Z4 or S2000 so there's that warm feeling you get when you spot it parked amongst a sea of other cars.
Drawbacks? It's a bit more cramped than the other cars, if you regularly have a pax then it might be worth considering something a bit more spacious - I'm a pretty small chap (no 18 stone goatees here) but I still found myself elbowing whoever was in the other seat when I went to change gear or apply the handbrake. Creature comforts are lacking - no power steering (not that it really needs it), windy windows, no traction control, and the heater is rather poor.
