I need help... keep buying fixing and selling cars at a loss! Its like a freaking addiction. I just loving tinkering and making them better and stuff.

The cool thing is that I like classics and they can be pretty cheap to insure.


Now the insurance prices have hiked its not a justifiable expense... it seems I am going to have to sell my trusty E36 328 Coupe. Its a sad day indeed.


I have just fitted Evo brakes, suspension and a LSD. Its flipping awesome.. drifts and donuts on demand. My classic car policy won't take it because its too new. I could strip it and fit the running gear to a E30 (if indeed it will bolt up) it on to my classic car policy. Otherwise its got to go.

Such a great car.


If I could find some cheap insurance that allowed me to drive it to tracks that would be great. That means it could stay.

Yup, I'm the same.

I have 4 cars just now, yet my thirst for new metal is never quenched. And I can't bring myself to sell any.

Be sure to check out the multi-car Classic Car policies. I've got one from Footman James, which applies I think for 3 cars or more, and it's amazing value.

I've relegated my "track" toy to just that - no longer insured and has been sorn'd for a while.....I used to enjoy a weekend blast in it, but adding up the cost it was costing me a small fortune to keep it road legal...primarily because I could insure it for about £150 a year until this year, when I'm getting quotes over £400....shame....

I would like to do this but I have no space. I think my wife has been waiting for this crunch point.

Something has got to give.

Sell the E36 (only worth pennies) and buy a LSD for my 911. I just don't drive the 911 with quite the same verve as the E36 is all.

Hmm, im serial owner too! Currently fleet is 7 in my name, I need to make an addition to garage, and the other half has 4 in her name. I should make that 6 though, the tractor doesnt really count for me!!

I cant quench my thirst, if I had the money, id be filling the barn!!

My OH certainly is!! I've lost count how many he has now, but we still end up with times when they're all broke or off the road for some reason and we're down to one car!! I'm sure he'll be along later to confirm how many he has

Have got 5 at the moment. I am selling one due to lack of use but would also like at least 1 more.

Limiting factor is drive space so I am on the hunt for a 1 bedroomed house with a 20 car garage

Currently have three cars and only two drivers. The 2CV is on a classic policy, so is peanuts (<£100), we have room for more (anyone who has owned a 2CV or 'A' series will tell you one is never enough!) but mrsthewife won't let me

For the last little while we have usually had three cars on the drive!

BMW 530; BMW 123D Cab; 997 GT3 RS (and I had seriously considered keeping the 996 as well!)

As you can see the 530 has been around for a while!

Have you thought of a traders policy? I have 1 as I normally have 3-4 cars pass through each year so can be classed as a part time trader. My policy was £550 this year and I'm 30.

We keep buying with a view to selling one or two,which never happens it seems and have ended up with a touraeg,s-max,volvo v50,st170 focus,capri,avensis and an early defender currently undergoing a light restoration plus my bike,only me and o/h drive so it`s a bit daft really but the capri landie,focus and avensis which has only done 1300 miles are keepers.
the others are just means of transport/metal except the touareg,which just sits there eating parts and money and inspires no confidence to drive any where further than the from barn/garage or drive onto the transporter taking it back to vw again and again and.........should have bought an alfa

Oh yes ime not alone ha ha. I am a serial car owner and yea its an addiction I think. At the moment I have my 2003 Ford Focus ST170, Vauxhall VX220, Vauxhall Nova GTE track car, 1991 Land Rover Discovery for the dog and getting muddy.

And ime only 23 whats it gona be like when ime 43.
