hi. my 93 J eunos has a speedo in MPH, i thought they all had KPH speedos with a second reading in MPH on the inside of the dial. my question is simply will the odometer be in miles or K's??
also it has had rear plastic numberplate surround replaced with a uk style one. ie uk sized number plate. is this unusual or did some cars have this done when they were imported?
thanks in advance.

I had an imported eunos that was imported within a year of manufacture and 'disguised' as a uk car with uk wide plates and other uk bits like bigger sun visors and uk badges. The speedo was mph. So it's best to check the V5 on that point.

Other than the kind of obvious - 30kph will feel very very slow, you could follow a mate doing 30mph, and see what your speedo says?

Take the instrument binnacle off. If there is a small gearbox between the cable and the speedo that'll be a converter in which case the odometer will be running in miles (but will be wrong as the first part of it's life will be in kms).
Probably easier to check it with a sat nav though.

Drive a known distance and see how the odometer compares...

I've seen this done to a Eunos to make it look like a UK car, Mazda badges were fitted too. Wierd anti import prejudice. Not heard of anyone bothering when importing, lots of them about with square plates. Could be a sign of rear end damage, if it happened in the UK it would be hard to get a Jap style replacement, easier to go with UK one.
