battery relocation

I plan to put the battery in the boot. i have a split roof so space is no problem. Other than a mounting bracket what do i have to do electrically? I assume that I just run new 16mm? positive and negative cables from the existing battery termal connections in the footwell to the new battery location in the boot and just clamp those cables stright onto the battery terminals. Do I also need to run a new earth from the battery -ve to the chassis in the rear of the car?

Anything else i need to do?

Whilst doing it, why not relocate the fuse box behind the passenger seat for easier access

You might want to use some slightly thicker cable if you can, to help with the additional length.

Might want to check with a scrutineer as they don't like having batteries in the same place as the fuel tank. Accident causes the battery to short out on tank and KABOOM!

This may mean that the battery will have to be in a sealed box.

You want at least 35mm2 wiring or thicker to minimise the voltage drop and cable heating when cranking the engine over.

steve - good point - given my propensity for accidents you are probably right about keeping it away from the fuel. Its going to stay where it is. Thanks all. Jes

I have to intention of moving mine as I never sit in the passenger seat and I have an accessible anderson connector fitted for jumping and charging.

Steve Heath does have a very good point for anyone considering moving the battery. Quinny's point is also a good one as well.
