Have booked a holiday for me and O/H to Germany next month,
it's been at least 12 years since we were there (or out of the country),
Would it be recomended to take deutsch marks or euros now ?
Are euro's happily recieved as currency ?
Will be hitting the main touristy cities not the sticks.

Thanks in advance.

Best take both currencies so you have the option of cadence clutching from one to the other at will.

Reichsmarks , you'll need loads of them !

I guess you've not watched TV or read a paper or listened to the radio since 1998 but the Mark doesn't exist anymore.

Depends where you are going. The previous West Germany happily accepts Euros in many places. The former East Germany prefers Deutchemarks, though roubles or reichsmarks tendered will often get better service than euros.

You can use Euros, but in the old East they pull your pants down with the exchange rate.

US Dollars are useful in the old west half of Berlin. In a bumbag. With the stars and stripes on it.

"I guess you've not watched TV or read a paper or listened to the radio since 1998 "

That comment how ever pretty much hits the nail on the head, gave up on such things and buried myself in work and doing voluntary type stuff.

Haha, at least you had the balls to come back and make light of it smile

But seriously, have you been living in a cave. Seeing as Germany is pretty much bankrolling the entire Eurozone it's been on the news quite a bit lately...

You might want to have a look at your apostrophe usage too while you are getting yourself up to speed smile

"But seriously, have you been living in a cave." idea

Kinda, but one of my own making. Without being too deep and morbid.

Hit some low spots in life, lost trust in any people and switched off from a lot of things,
including any news, papers, people - especially those who put more importance on diction than the message itself.

Changed jobs a few times, had some new experiences that put life in a whole new different perspective, still avoid negative news and political type stuff when I can, now put more emphasis on living each day to it's fullest.
Laughing all the way. even at myself.

no way looking for sympathy,

Hope all you mothers have had a good day !!

Beatles Records and Jeans are the most universally accepted currency I think.

And Marlboros, don't forget Marlboros - allegedly a carton of 10 is the going rate for a young wife.
