Where in the UK can I go and take the car to top speed?
Discussion
It depends on how much room you need to reach top speed but Straightliners used to run frequent events up at Elvington that also included a run down the full runway from a standing start.
I only managed around 170mph in a standard UK Supra but I've been there when quicker cars have been doing 200+ and managing to stop at the end.

youll never reach top speed over a quarter, unless your car is modded for itMelindi
woodbridge, elvington or bruntingthorpe (VMAX@brunters would be good you join the 1 mile'ish straight doing at least 60mph)
havent heard of any longer runways here, unless you get lucky invite to another airbase

It depends on how much distance is required to get the vehicle to Vmax, and how much additional distance is required to get it stopped.
For some cars, the only realistic option is certain sections of the Autobahn.
Even the autobahn is a bit hit and miss. Best I've done is 143mph, always had to slow for something or other, even on a Sunday morning. Very frustrating...For some cars, the only realistic option is certain sections of the Autobahn.

The best place that I know of is the A5, just in front of Frankfurt Airport, bet J 23 and 25. Dead-straight for about 5 miles, flat, 4 lanes each side. Easy to turn around, a fuel station on either side. I went there at dawn on the longest-daylight Sunday of the year, and could do a lot for the first 90 min.
I'd stay away from the 2-lane A'bahns - you want at least a full lane's separation between yourself and anything you're overtaking.
