Can anyone help? I am having problems with my toyota yaris, the engine fan kicks in straight away and remains on, my low level coolant indicator is intermeittent. And now the malfunction indicator warning light is on. Anyone experienced similar problems?

Many thanks.

Sounds like a fairly major wiring issue, get it to a garage/dealer asap for some diagnostic checks !!

(at a guess, it sounds like the CAN bus has gone for a wonk, as the things that are showing issues are not other wise connected particularly,)

(or a duff ECU)

(or a dodgy earth)

(or...)

(or...)

(like i say, get it looked at by someone who knows what they are doing (it'll be cheaper in the long run))

There are a few versions of the yaris and I only checked one, but the one I looked at is CAN. The coolant temp sensor signal goes direct to the engine control unit and from there is a CAN signal to the AC module. The coolant fan relay is triggered by both/either the engine module or the AC module.

A missing coolant temp signal could cause the symptoms as could a CAN fault. Since the management light is on than a code read shpould really be the next step.
