Just popped outside, and heard the neighbour mowing his lawn. But the thing is is 8.30 pm and as we live in the country (fields opposite and all around with sheep in them and no town for 2 or so miles) its really quite dark outside ..

So I was wondering, is there a lawn mower with lights on it. As that would actually be quite useful.

I thought this was gonna be a noise pollution rant. biggrin

Anyway, my main concern would be severing the power cable so maybe he has a head torch or it's a petrol mower. I've never seen one with lights on; could he have strapped a torchlight to the handle section?

I am also in the countryside and use one of these beasts for the "lawn".
Bright as daylight with the floodlights on full.
Biggest problem is the rabbits sit and stare at the lights getting closer and closer and closer and..... thrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrwupppppppppp

Most of which are utter pants. Cheap rideons = cheap lights.

Commercial mowers, like the Ransomes triple pic above have decent lights, and it's perfectly possible to mow in almost complete darkness.

I ran over a rabbit a few years ago with a big roughcut mower in one of the paddocks. The grass was long and I didn't see it until the mower wobbled violently for a second or two and this pile of fur, blood and meat came flying out the side shoot. Silly bugger had legs to run away with but chose to sit still and quiet.

For some reason this thread makes me want to get drunk as hell and mow the lawn with a ride on mower.

One day...

When we moved here, first evening, wifey and I got the two ikkle mowers out of the shed, worked out how to start them (not immediately apparent) then hooned around the grounds. Awesome fun, and we were more than half-cut at the time. hehe

yes

In the days when I had a house with a lawn big enough for a ride on the work would often end with racing round in top trying to collect the empty beer cans off the lawn by scoping them up by hand as i wizzed past them. All very 'elf and safety like smile
