It's amazing to think of the different cars (and bikes) that raced there, it was brilliant! (as a spectator)
I've been back a few times when a friend has been competing in tarmac stages, nice to see the rubber getting laid down on the tarmac again.
My favourite vantage point was 'southstand', the slight right after caravan leading on to the back straight. I even marshalled at that post for a while (post 85 IIRC
)
I still have a stack of programmes somewhere...

As a young boy I went to my first Motor Racing there in 1980 (?) it was the one David Essex was at, still got the programme somewhere.
The Chevrons & the space framed white Beetle were fantastic.
I went back in the mid 90's to a very wet public track day, this was possibly the only one that was held as I think it was a test in response to Kockhills ones & haven't been back since.
What's heppening there these days ? (Motor Sport wise)

LOL - I was there too, that was to promote Silver Dream Racer IIRC. The beetle was Dougal Niven, who I believe is still active in motor racing in some way (I vaguely recollect his name cropping up on this very forum last year). The Chevrons & the space framed white Beetle were fantastic.

Nothing really as far as I know. There is the odd tarmac stage rally, but these are closed events with no public access.Ken555 said:
Thanks for that There's a 14 page thread about that on their forum which I'll read later when I have time.
I may well attend that

EDIT: - if it wasn't fully booked already...

Ah the memories, East of Scotland Kart Club used to race there before the race track was extended. At the end of the long straight, what became the back straight on the extended car circuit, there was a bend with a bit of a kink in it, you had to turn in early because there was a square of cobbles that got you airborne, exciting stuff. Fiday nights were practice nights after which we would retire to the Norton for drinks and much to the annoyance of the head waiter (what was his name again?) sandwiches. I did a lot of sprints there as well, Ingliston that is, not the Norton.
Happy days!

I was a regular spectator at Ingliston from early 70's to mid 80's
British Touring Cars, remeber the black Mazda RX3's (Playboy sponsored) loads of buny girls going about with bits hanging out, great !!! Noel Edmunds also there around the same time.
Jimmy Mcrae was also a regular in one or two quick Vauxhall's Firenza/Magnum Chevette HS/HSR plus some years later he did some demo runs in the first Metro 6R4 seen in Scotland.
Loads of other well known folk have been there over the years Jackie Stuart, Graham Hill, Derek Bell, to name but a few
