Hi All

I have a degree in maths - but I can't for the life of me work out how the hell the main belt goes around the bits.... it is always too long ... man oh man do I feel a bit dim.

I applied Kalman's algorithm, used calculus and even chaos theory, I then put all of the centres and diameters into MATLAB and ran a spline curve fitting algorithm for 24 hours - but all to no avail. ( :-) just kidding )

So please, please can someone post a picture or description on how to fit the main belt on an LS3.

Thank you in advance for helping a thicko!
(when God asked about BRAINS, I thought he said "trains" and asked for a slow one.......)

Did you try using imaginary numbers?

Kelvin, may I asked where you got the pulleys and A/C mount for your LS7 and how much they were?

Hi

Thanks for the replies....

I seem to be missing the pulley between the water pump and alternator....

however this does not take up much slack and I have tried this config, still way too long ????

Hi

Sorry for the delay..... its been a long week but quite successful hey Mark?

I have a aircon bracket for you Greg please ring me tomorrow and i will mail it.

Gareth, your belt should go like DHGTR's without the idler between the alternator and the water pump as its not really required. One of the above pictures has the water pump turning the same way as the crank THAT IS WRONG as the water pump should turn the opposite direction to the crank!!

These are all included in the LS7 engine package from American Speed. I am not sure whether AS sell them separately or not. You could contact Gail at AS to find out.

Which one do you think is wrong ?? The LS7 certainly isn't wrong...They both look fine to me.

EH?? on both pics the water pump is being driven by the back of the belt, hence it spins in the opposite direction to the crank for both???
