Fiat Coupe - Best Bet for 5k?

Looking for a fast, stylish, rare coupe to use for 1-2k per year and spend the rest of the year polishing!!

Spotted a Limited Edition 20VT for 5k, fully serviced tons of bills and low miles.

Can't see anything in mint condition with low mileage which will provide as big a fun factor for the money.

Any other ideas?

No suggestions with crazy servicing costs please!!

I'd go for it if it feels right. Always liked those Fiat coupes!

The obvious alternative would be the Corrado though. I like those too. Hmm...

Fiat Coupes are nice but for for 5k I would go for a tasty 3.0 V6 Alfa GTV instead!

It's a good point, but those 5 pot Fiat engines have got a nice sound to them too. Albeit not as nice as the Alfa V6.

Agree, it's a tough one. I love the metal dash in those Fiats though. That would be a tempter for me.

5k will get you an E36 M3.

Might be a bit higher mileage and older than a fiat or an alfa but they have aged well imo.

I had a Fiat Coupe 20VT LE, thgought it was a great little car, very well packaged, if you ever need the extra practicality the rear seats are surprisingly ok, decent size boot, and good performance.

Downsides - FWD, I had it after a lairy Nissan 200SX and kept finding myself surprised by how much it wanted to understeer on roundabouts.

Quality didn't feel that great - first time I pressed fog light switch it disappeared into the dash. Boot feels very flimsy, you have to shut it carefully from the centre. But other than that, it proved to be reliable.

I like the looks, they're a bit quirky, but it has interesting styling features, nice interior and great seats.

Overall I don't think you will be disappointed.

Another vote for the E36 M3.

5K will buy a half decent Evo model or a very nice standard 3.0 model.

The only criterea they kinda fall short on is that theyre not that rare!

You should get a really good Fiat Coupe for £5k, personally I would go for a Plus rather than an LE. I really enjoyed mine, don't expect MX5 handling but as an everyday stylish car they are great.

She's in my favorite colour and has been on the tellybox (if channel five counts). No reserve so could go for a bargain price. There are plenty of 20Vt about for less than £2000 and £3000 will get a good Brembo edition. One of my favorite cars of all time and I wish I had the budget to buy another one.

Suspect that its depreciation would be a quantum higher than the Fiat or Alfa, though - even at their current low values.

Agreed. Although nice ones are getting tough to find..

This is a nice one, if not the best colour (IMHO) for a Corrado.

i thought Fiat coupes were lurking well below 2k nowerdays? i personally would have zero interest in paying a double or triple the market rate for one claimed to be immaculate when im sure there are far better value for money ones out there.
my opinion in the RX8 mentioned is a far more interesting car, especailly for the pice tag. i have never owned a Fiat though, only family friends have but apart from the pretty special acceleration they never seemed to be blown away by it.

Personally at that price point I'd avoid (a) turbos and (b) rotaries like the plague!

That's the most options I've ever seen on a 'raddo. Bodykit, air con, headlight washers, recaros. I bet that was £25k when new!

Personally I'd have a Storm, since although it offers nothing extra over a standard car with leather (like mine), there's a perceived notion of desirability with them.
