I'm thinking of getting an orange monster but the polished case has always put me off, bit too bling for me so I've begun to look in to bead blasting but have some questions.

Will bead blasting remove all the black paint from the bezel? I quite like the cleaned up look but wouldn't want little bits of paint left in the recesses. All gone or nothing for me.

But if I did want the black markings put back who could do this? Is the a DIY job (if so how?) or would the bead blaster be able to repaint the markings? (possibly in orange?)

I couldn't be sure of answering that 100% correctly but I'd bet Bry could.

Hi there,

The best method is to have the whole case blasted and mask the top of the bezel.

Thanks for the reply Bry, so is the masking and bead blasting something you can do?

Also out of interest, when a monster is fully bead blasted how are the bezel markings reapplied in a different colour? Is it a paint kit the owner applies? The ones I've seen online look perfect and I don't think I could be so precise.

Hi there,

These days I mask the top but it's possible to refill the markers to a high standard just takes patience, time and preparation.

IMO the bezel with no bezel paint can look quite kool.

thanks for reply. Yeah I tend to agree with you about the bezels looking good without paint, toughens the watch up even more. If I go ahead I'll get in touch and hopefully you can do it for me, cheers.

No worries I have removed the bezel paint for jobs in the past like below:-

the top one is exactly what i am after. Is the paint removed from every nook and cranny?

I assume the second pic shows a bead blasted watch that has been relumed? I was led to believe that reluming a monster was difficult due to the recesses being shallow?

one last thing, how resistant is that finish to showing desk diving marks and scratches?

Hi there,

The blasting process doesn't greatly work harden the stainless steel so scratch resistance will be about the same.

All the paint can be removed if requested.

Lastly luming the markers isn't recommended as the recesses are shallow.

Both look good - mind if I ask roughly how much the job costs? (Feel free to PM me the reply if you'd prefer)

I must say, I've never heard a Monster referred to as 'bling' before.

Maybe bling was wrong word, but I think the highly polished sides of the case jar with the tool like, tough qualities of the watch, plus don't really go with the brushed bezel.

I think the bling thing is increased when it's on a rubber strap, just doessn't look right. Whereas polished bits look ok when worn on a bracelet.
