...and the heating on my new car seems disinclined to blow any hot air.

Any idea's what could be causing this? My first thought was heater matrix, but I'm open to any helpful suggestions. Any known weak points with the heating system on these? Car is a 1997 323i Coupe with dual zone digital climate BTW.

Thanks people!

the resistor pack is the usual suspect on the e36, but that would result in a single speed or eratic fan speed rather than not blowing hot.

Seems to blow fine, just not even lukewarm with the dials set to 32 Deg.

Is the engine coming up to the correct temperature when running, if not it could be the thermostat is stuck open, thereby over-cooling the engine and you not getting the hot air you are requesting?

I think it's sorted, but i feel quite stupid. I was driving in to work when i noticed a rotary dial above the climate control. It was set to 'blue' so i rotated it round and felt some warm air. I was almost at work when i realised so i haven't totally satisfied myself all is working as it should, but it's a start. :embarrassed:

Any idea when the pollen filter was last replaced?. If it's old and clogged up it'll strangle the air flow and stop the heater working properly.
