Hi guys,

Wife's X type diesel with 90k on it has vibration through the clutch which I suspect is the DMF on its way out.

It costs the same to replace the DMF with a solid version.

I've never noticed a problem with solid flywheels but googling suggests that on modern diesels they are required either for:

Protecting the crank
Protecting the gearbox
Significantly reducing NVH

As my wife intends keeping the car I don't want to fit something that will mess it up but I don't want another £700 bill either.

Anyone had bad results from fitting a solid replacement ?

Thanks, I did a PH search first and that one didn't come up (in the first 4 pages anyway)

When I had a mondeo tdci 130, maybe the same engine as yours. I was in 2 minds to fit a solid flywheel or not, anyway went to price up both parts and LUK had discontinued the solid flywheel for this model due to causing other engine failures. Plus alot of advise i was given, was told to replace like for like.
