No, not that kind!

I'm just curious. I live in Kent. Over the past year or so, I've sold 3 bikes. One went to Yorkshire, one went to Cheshire, and one went all the way to Inverness. All a long distance away. They were all fairly priced; I didn't give them away.

Yesterday, I listed my truck on PH (and eBay). As we speak, there is someone on their way from Hereford to view it, and another guy has called from NE Scotland saying that he's thinking of travelling down to view if it doesn't sell today. Again, I think I've pitched the price reasonably - it's similar to a few others currently for sale, and £100-£200 under what a few dealers have them up for. It's a Ford Ranger - not exactly rare or particularly sought-after.

When I'm looking, my start point is within 20-30 miles from home and I'll expand that out a bit further if I need to. But I certainly wouldn't be travelling hundreds of miles to look at a 7 year old truck!

So, how far do you go?

I'll travel the whole of the UK for the right car at the right price, in my mind the extra time taken to get there is worth it in the long run.

I don't mind travelling to view cars as long as they're as described. My last 3 purchaes have been 150-200 miles each way. Doing a 360 mile round trip to see a 'Lovely condition throughout' Mustang yesterday that was a complete dog was a bit tedious.

I always set the parameters of distance on PH, AT, eBay etc. to 100 miles from me, anything else is simply to far to (potentially) waste time viewing.

If it's a really rare car i'd be prepared to travel the whole of the UK only provided that plenty of communication - photos/emails AND phonecalls from a bonafide enthusiast seller - not gaz with a council-estate special...

Yes, I take a similar view - I can't understand people who want to travel massive distances to view something they could surely pick up locally.

That said, my morning viewer didn't show, as per my deleted thread.
