Luxury Hatchback

A burgeoning new sector. And one I'm trying to work through to find the right car.

So far I've identified only 2 cars here, and neither of them are floating my boat yet, but I'm sure that the format is the right one..

1. Panamera
2. 5 Series GT

Anyone know any others?

Out of interest, what do they offer to you that a conventional Estate doesn't?

I suppose the five-door A5 would be worth a look? I think that's a hatchback.

The Aston Rapide is there too, if you're willing to spend quite a lot more.

If you're on a budget then Skoda Superb.
It's a hatchback and a saloon at the same time.

Is the Audi A7 a hatchback? Or a CLS style swoopy saloon?

Less visual bulk.
"Coupe" styling (some more attractive than others).
Greater torsional rigidity.

I quite like the A5/A7, and I'm not normally a VW/Audi fan.

Luxury? Well its from a premium manufacturer and most lexus cars have been quite luxurious.
Hatchback? Check.
Looks pretty smart too.

Bit small compared to a 5 GT.

How about going a bit bigger and looking at X5 tye things?

A5 Sportback thingy? Saw one on the motorway this morning and thought "eh?" as it's an A5 but with 4 doors.

Can you imagine the reaction from the beardy Jaguar traditionalists if the XF was made as a hatchback? They've only just got over the shock of the X-type being offered as an estate with a diesel option.

I agree with you though, the XF would make a great hatchback, and would possibly steal some sales from BMW/Merc estate competitors.

I think, here in Europe, also Lexus is missing out with only the sedans of for example the IS.
For my business, I just can't justify not having a big boot/loading area.

The correct term, over here, is "5 door", while a classic sedan would be "4 door".
