I got given a free water saving kit at Sainsburys that included a Water Widget that I'm supposed to screw between the shower head and pipe. It reckons it will save 70% of water. I'm pretty sceptical and expect it will slow my combi powered shower down, but it claims to not effect and may even improve performance!

Any one else tried one?

I'm not sure of the logic in having a power shower to throw lots of water at you, and then buying a widget to stop it from doing so.

Won't it put a strain on the pump?

Besides the pro-shower lobby always tell us bath-types how much less water they use, so I wouldn't worry unduly smile

Got them on my showers but they are not combi supplied but pressure tank supplied. They do cut the amount of water used down but you still get a decent shower flow.

Mine came with a bag which you fill up while timing the flow. If it doesn't reach the line then it's not worth fitting the widget. Mine was more than double the flow so has saved loads on the water meter.

I got one of these forced upon me in Sainsburys.

This thread has just reminded me it's in a cupbaord somewhere.

What a load of old b0ll0x. I'll be sure to find it and chuck it in the bin.

On a related note my Mrs requested one of those "free" electricity monitors from our supplier.

Also a load of old b0ll0x. Seeing how much leccy I'm burning to cook my dinner, or see in the dark, or be warm, or watch telly is not a useful feature. I'm not going to stop any of these activies for the sake of 40p a week.

Well I like getting battered by my shower! I might give it a try to see what happens.

The idea is not to highlight how much you are using when doing stuff. But highlight what you are using when doing nothing.

I dont know.....

Our electric bills were horrific (still are but thats another story)

Turned out the ufh in bedroom and ensuite was costing about 80p per day. Obviously i know its dearer than gas but still didn't think it would be that much.

Plus i'm sad/odd and enjoy turning things on and off to see what difference they make.

Just been looking at our shower in detail - it has a kind of knob thing on it - with a bit of an anti-clockwise twist, flow is instantly reduced. That'll save us a fortune wink

Save even more by turning it from 'H' to 'C' hehe
