After a long line of company diesels and capable but hardly exotic hatches I had enough pennies saved to treat myself to something a little more special this February, a '54 350z with 40k on the clock. It's GT spec with every toy bar satnav and plenty history indicating a careful and considerate previous owner with most of the common faults (knocking suspension joints, electrical niggles) already sorted.

It's completely standard which is the way I intend to keep it... as long as I can resist the temptation of an aftermarket exhaust!
Plans are simply to keep it clean and running well, I think these offer a pretty good package out of the box and I've no interest in chasing power figures or making suspension changes.
Plans are to have the front rims refurbed to remove a couple of small kerb marks although the wheels are in great condition for the age, no bubbling or corroding. Also one scratch on the bonnet and a tiny ding on the n/s door to be fixed and it'll be as good as I would want it. Oh and a stubby aerial will set it all off nicely
It made 265bhp and about 260lb/ft on a recent PH rolling road day in Aberdeen with healthy fuelling and a nice smooth curve. General consensus on the day was that Wallace Performance's RR produces quite conservative figures (or so we all told ourselves!) so I should be almost bang on factory output. Happy with that I've now got it booked into Clark Motorsport next week for a alignment/geo check as it feels a little wandery which they suspect is negative toe. Once it's all straight and true a new set of front rubber will have it just the way I want... bring on the summer
