Got a new stable mate for the tiv at the weekend

Not mine as such, the lad bought it instead of a skyline. We decided that getting a skyline without garage space was a no no. So he decided on his fav bike instead.

He is insured to drive the tiv and I am insured on the rsv. Happy days, I was always worried that one day I would get the bike bug back again and have to sell the tiv, now it doesn't matter if I do.

I now have quite a bit of garage remodelling to do to fit them both in. Moving the built in cupboards and putting up wall cupboards as well

Nice, always fancied one of those but I don't trust myself on anything that fast! I'll stick with my wee SV650

A few years ago I had one of those. Mrs TT bought me a brand new one in silver for my birthday. Got cleaned up on it 9 months later, it was repaired but never felt the same (in my head only I guess) so I part x'd it for a new Triumph Daytona 955i in yellow.
Stepping up to 145 bhp on 2 wheels was an awesome thing. In car terms about 700 bhp per ton. yikes Nothing I will ever drive will come close, but the Tiv is almost as much fun.

Purely for pub talk, I intend to get the tiv on the rollers at some point to see what it actually puts out. Pound for pound, its as much fun as a bike but slightly more sociable. At least you can talk to your passengers

How's the car handling with the modded front set up?

The car handles like its on rails. Feels so much better than it did before.

Could come down a pound or two on the front springs, maybe 850, possibly 800 instead of the 900's. But it's certainly isn't anywhere near as stiff as what I was told it would be.
When it was up on the lift at the MoT, while underneath my garage mate Jon swung on the front cross member and there was enough movement on the suspension for me to think then that I had got it right. (using him as ballasthehe)

Back end has 325 on and I think they could probably come down too, 275 maybe. I put shorter shocks on the back to lower it a bit, because I didn't have any lesser springs, it was sitting about 4 1/2" above the wheel. Now as you can see from the pics, I have it sitting almost level with 1 1/2" front and 2" at the back

I think it's a good way with the front - I haven't sorted out my rears yet but will do so later in the year. I also need to get my tracking done too.

As for the stable mate....as bikes go it looks the business!

Tracking you say eek

After renewing all the front bushes etc, I took it for laser alignment. Instead of the front laser shining onto the rear wheel measuring bar, it actually shone onto the tyre. Garage mate said he had never seen one so far out before.
I guess after years of re adjusting, putting everything new on again showed just how much things move around and got out of alignment. How the wheel has been moved to fix (cover up) geometry movement with sagging and ageing bushes

Nice Bike!!!

Went throgh the bike stage before i found the love of my life, BIG BAD WEDGES.

I was having a bit crack with your lad at the BAR and tried to talk him out of a skyline for a wedge, seems he half listened. But at least he still gets to drive your wedge.

Cheers

Fab'n'groovy smile

Some of my mates ride sportsbikes but being mid-30s on (and mostly WELL on) they pay for it with aches and pains hehe

I make do with a 140mph armchair:

Mid 30's wedg1e

You are only yet a spring chicken. I am knockin on the 50 door next year and still love to ride sports bikes. I have been down the sit up and beg road. For 15 years I fancied a yamaha vmax, 1200cc of pure grunt. Eventually got one and kept it 3 months. It just wasn't my style of riding.

James May in the Contach springs to mind

Nice bike though, the Pan. Like cars, I can appreciate all sorts but would only have a few. My last baby up untill 18 months ago---

Mates dad, my neighbour for 25 years who died last year, 50 years of being into bikes and this is how you go out

Where as I will be pushed into the boot of the Tiv and the lad can drive me therehehe

Not far behind you mate, 2014 for my half-century. Me and the guys sometimes swap rides (the bikes, not the wimmin hehe) on the continental motorways, funny how comfortable a Fireblade feels when you've been on an R1 all morning biggrin
One of them has just gone from VFR800 to a Ducati Quattrostagione or whatever they call it... 'cos he realised he wasn't seeing any of the scenery he was hurtling through. He just sold an old VMax, I didn't realise they were worth so much eek
