Any ideas chaps? Starting issue on old Merc 190e

Hi folks,

Scratching my head on this one. My current snotter is a C reg Merc 190e, lovely drive and in good nick.

Trouble is, it's a cow to start.

The symptoms are that it turns, fires runs (from cold) then dies, after several attempts I depress the throttle and it runs up the rev range, eventually it's ok

I suppose the best way to describe it is that it's clearing it's throat!

I've tried 3 warm up regulators, two ignition pumps, I've cleaned the fuel system out. It doesn't have Electronic injection, as there is no ECU. I'm presuming it's the older kugelfischer mechanical injection..

I'm pulling my hair out on this one and any help gratefully received.

Probably worth joining the 190e forum and asking there. A lot of knowledgeable owners use it.

I'd suggest taking the dizzy cap off and checking it all out, my old 2.6 used to need the occasional squirt of wd40 in the cap to stop it misfiring when first started.
