Anyone in the garden/tree business?? I need some advice I have several really big palm trees. 12-14ft + that have been hit really bad by the frost this year, question is can a palm be cut back at the trunk to sprout again or is it now dead????

I bet they're cordylines. I'd cut the dead bits off and see what happens next year; chances are there's plenty of life underneath.

As Simpo says, it'll more than likely be Cordyline Australis. They really have taken a battering this winter.
If you cut it back, it may regrow, but the shoots, if and when they come will be random, and probably grow out from near the base of the tree.

Mine are dead, rotten inside.

I pulled it out - even the little sprouts at the bottom had died.

Even a 10 year old Eucalyptus tree of mine has died, and also some bamboo, anything tropical was toast...

Was a thread recently about this. I thought I has lost 2 of my 4 Cordylines. A few days later it turns out I lost 3 of 4. The snow and frost really put the boot in this winter.
