How do you guys start your Cerbera

Bit of a strange one but,

Ever since I have had my Cerb I have always started it by inserting the imobiliser key fob into the imobiliser slot below the stereo, then pressing the black start button. How are you guys started your Cerb? assuming the car is unlocked, the alarm is off and you are sitting in the drivers seat?

I know you can press the key fob button but all I got when I tried this was the alarm sounding!!

I did the same thing with mt Tuscan I never really used the key fob button except when locking and setting the alarm.

Always by pressing the key fob button for me, I have never used the transponder thingy in all the 10 years I've had the car.

Unlock get in press black button if I'm to slow press black button then press the alarm fob.

I do exactly the same process as the OP,unless the starter motor is playing up then i get angry & want to smash the thing up,have had two starters in just over a year!

But love it when it goes,heaven!

Used the transponder in the slot thingy for a short while then found pushing fob button easier so do that and grin as the fuel pump chirps in and i gently give her some gas and light the blue touch paper.

Oh yes what a car what a buzz, well pop and bang and scream!! who needs mind altering drugs when you have a Cerbera?

Starting from locked the only option is the remote key fob followed by the black button.

If it is already unlocked but the ignition has timed out I insert the immobiliser key into the dash slot as I don’t want to risk re-arming the alarm with me in it. This also saves battery drain on the remote fob. (Not an economy measure but to avoid the fag of having to buy a fiddly battery and fit it.)

I always use the key fob, a quick press and it will disarm the immobiliser.
I have used the pushy sticky thing probably twice in 9 years, or whatever it is.

While we are on this subject,i did mention to the garage on saturday about this little no start phenomenem and the guy there said"ignition relay".When the mechanic had a look he said there was no relay.Somebody did say about a relay nr the ecu but i cannot find this,and what the mechanic said only backed this up.Anyway the old finger on the black button for a few minutes has worked so far.

On mine there is a relay for the starter in the passenger footwell. It is a fused relay and is in the harness behind the scuttle panel. Being TVR yours may or may not have one there, but mine had badly corroded connectors. Cleaning them up fixed my starter motor problems.

No bud i think it is wired direct to starter on mine,a relay would seem a good idea.The owner at Dulfords knows his stuff,but it was not there?.I think i may have an issue brewing with the alarm/immob.

Key fob for me i have only had to use the slot thing when the alarm stopped working but once i reset the alarm system no problems.

Phone Karl at bike and car alarms near Guildford as he has just sorted out my Cerb. I have had this problem on two of my previous tvrs and this operation is wrong. Just key fob and then push button to start. He sorted it out good chap.

What I don't think has been said is that you only need to press the keyfob again if you don't hit the black button quick enough after unlocking. I dunno what happens if you use the keyfob without pushing the black button first, thats when you are likely to re-arm I would have thought.
I get in, push the black button, if I don't get a high pitch buzzer (do all Cerbs do this?) or fuel pump, press the key fob, the pump goes, buzzer goes and then hit the starter again and away we go.
T'was the same with the Griff but without the button.

It doesn't re-arm on mine. If I waited too long after unlocking the car, thus immobiliser jumping in again, I only press the keyfob quickly and the immobiliser turns off without re-arming the alarm.

Carl Baker fitted me a new system a couple of weeks back.

He's introduced a longer delay in to the system now, so that when you open the car/disable the immobiliser, via the keyfob, you now get 45 seconds to press the Black ignition button. Instead of the old 15 seconds.

Also there's an extra button on the new fobs for firing the boot catch

When my battery playing up, I used to unlock the car and leap straight into the seat with my finger on the starter button! If I didn't, the bloody thing wouldn't start!

Popped in a new Bosch battery and a Cobra alarm and now I have a bit longer to start the car and it fires up every time
