Just bought a 2004 CL500. I've come from an 07 3.4 Boxster. Must say, I am very impressed with the CL. Levels of refinement are beyond expectations. It's pretty quick too, and based on the 300mls I've done so far mpg is more than respectable. The car feels tight - fingers crossed it stays that way. It had the ABC pump and fluids all replaced a few weeks ago, and I can't spot any rust (it's last Aug 04 registered, so assume galvanised chassis). Anything else I should be looking out for with this car? Also, can anyone recommend a good Merc Specialist around London (ideally with CL experience)? Thanks
Welcome to the world of CL ownership! I fully agree about your impressions. My CL55 AMG is probably the most relaxing, comfortable and yet capable all-rounder I've ever owned.
On the subject of corrosion, mine developed blistering in the front of the rear arches, lower door panels and leading edge of bonnet. Being aluminium panels, I was rather pleased when Mercedes fixed the lot under warranty!
Other than that and a ABC pump failure, mine has been pretty much trouble free ....
