Please can someone recommend a unit that works in Italy/USA

I fall into the category of complete novice when it comes to sat nav’s.
I urgently need a unit that I can use in Italy next week and then in the USA, later this year. I don’t mind if it is not US/CE specific unit, but as long as the maps can be loaded onto the unit.
I really appreciate any guidance on this.
