Hi all,

My girlfriend owns a Polo as per the model below, and it's in 'as new' condition having done only 30k miles, but recently she has noticed wet/damp patches appearing on the rear seats. Usually on the base part passenger side.

I felt the carpets and mats, but everything on the floor is dry, so I'm even more confused!

It threw a heavy shower last night and once again the rear seat was wet!

Any suggestions??

Tape paper roll around the inside of the window seals, boot seal and deluge with a hose.

If not look under the seats to see if a bung is missing, again, using paper towels it is easy to spot where the water is coming from.

(Alternatively check she isnt have a short term affair smile )

Nope, no sunroof.

It's happened on a number of occasions now, always after rain.

Thanks for the help so far.

This thread was a letdown after the title, I'm afraid.

About 20 years ago, my mate's mum was sat in the passenger seat of his car and adjusted the seat.

She then asked him what this stuff was on her hand. yikes

My mate 'Errrr.....upholstery polish!' hehe

On my old MkII Golf there was an inspection hatch beneath the rear seat squab to gain access to the top of the fuel tank and the fuel gauge sender. Beneath the seat was a black circular plastic "hatch" covering the top of the fuel tank.

I don't know for sure but if the Polo has such a thing could it be letting in water splashed from underneath?

Years ago I had a A reg Polo 2 door that had wet back seats, it was the seal on the rear window, removed and refitted cured people. More than one inebriate thought they'd peed themselves on the way back from the pub.

less likely a lesbo affair, more likely the gasket for the bee-sting aerial is fubar'd and it will drip through the rear light in the headlining onto the rear seats. Common issue on those aerial types in my experience.

Given that your response is over two years late, either the cause has been identified or the infidelity dealt with.
