X5 Lease Up - Opinions on Options Please
Discussion
Well my X5 lease is up, the car is 4 years old and I can do the following
(Note all in Switzerland but figures converted to GBP. )
1. Buy the car (22k)
2. Re-lease for 2 more years same payment 450/mnth then buy etc.
3. New X5 (50k), no depo and same monthly payment, 4 years lease, (using old X5 delta value as "deposit")
I was going for buying the car as its low mileage, but the dealer's offer for a new one seems good.

If you did option 2, what would you have to pay for it in 2 years' time (were you to keep it)?
Option 3 may be good or may be rubbish depending on what deal is on the table for the expiry of that lease.
Buy back after 4 years is 24k for the new one. For the old one re-leased is 13k to buy. Option 3 may be good or may be rubbish depending on what deal is on the table for the expiry of that lease.

Interesting - my lease is up on my car in July, and just starting to thing about what I do then.
So I called MB and I have the chance of:-
1) Return vehicle
2) Pay the balloon payment (far to high - will not be doing this!)
Apparently in EU due to change in legislation in Jan 2011 (not sure exactly what) they cannot offer to extend the existing lease any further, or put towards any other offers they may have.
Apparently I need to go and speak to dealer about my options........... they MAY be able to offer something different depending on the equity in the car.

Tricky one, at 4 years old no warranty, servicing may start to get more pricey as you get to the mileage where you need to replace extras, like filters, brake discs, etc. etc.
New car for the same monthly amount? £450 sounds cheap. I think I would do that.
Or just buy the car for £22k now and finance it over 48 months so you know it is yours whenever you want to pay it off.

That's the problem, I am used to the payments, so in effect I do nothing different and have a new car, full warranty etc.
On the other side for 22K I can buy my current car which is in A1 condition but take the risk with costs in the future.
Its a nice problem to have and think about although my good friend tells me to keep the car, reduce the payments and buy this for Sundays:

does it have to be another X5? why not get something else and more exciting, but still capable?
I need 4 wheel drive, off road plus space etc, living in Switzerland you can justify this sometimes. For the exciting I have the 330i E92 which I plan to change to a 335 or M3 next year. Gassing Station | BMW General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
