The social network
Discussion
I enjoyed watching "The social network". I am not sure why I enjoyed it, maybe because I am a daily user of facebook, I don't know.
I was going to try to write something interesting on the film, but I really can't think of why you would want to watch it, it is basically a a film on how Facebook was made, which to be honest doesn't sound very interesting.
I would highly recommend this film to pretty anyone who has ever heard of Facebook.
I await the "cool story bro" pictures etc...

I always imagined that a cinematised story of a bloke who made a website would be as dull as dishwater.
As usual, I found myself to be entirely correct.
My exact sentiments and why I've not seen the film and have no intention to rent it from Blockbuster. As usual, I found myself to be entirely correct.
However everyone I've spoken to that's seen the film have had nothing but praise for it.
I think I'll wait for 2 years until its on TV

The first scene made me hate Zuckerburgs character but by the end of the film I was on his side.
Why were you on his side? He was a complete dirtbag to his only friend, and had the morals of a shark. I thought the film tried hard to show him in a favourable light, or even in a neutral one, but his actions stood out as indicators of his character.
He DID steal the idea, and he screwed his mate royally for no good reason. He was a scumbag.
p.s. I enjoyed the film

I don't think he did steal the idea, if that was the case then Myspace, Bebo etc... would all be sueing him, like he said in the film, none of the codes are the same. He did screw his mate over though. I thought the film tried hard to show him in a favourable light, or even in a neutral one, but his actions stood out as indicators of his character.

68 millions to the brothers for a billion pound private company is nothing..Ayez beera said:

Of course he stole the idea. The brothers, after seeing him code Facemash, asked him to code their idea, which was fully fleshed out. He strung them along, giving them nothing, while stealing it for himself. He even told people about it at the time. He boasted about it. The fact that he didn't use any of their existing code from someone else's failed attempt to write it is irrelevant (what a pathetic defence!), hence why he gave them lots of money. He settled because he had no chance whatsoever of winning that case.

My take on it was that he stole their basic idea but the reason he did so is because he knew that the brothers wouldn't allow it to go the way he wanted it to. He created something much greater than the original idea. The fact that he didn't use any of their existing code from someone else's failed attempt to write it is irrelevant (what a pathetic defence!), hence why he gave them lots of money. But yeah, he totally f
ked his mate over. I wonder how many zero's that undisclosed sum had in it.Gassing Station | TV, Film, Streaming & Radio | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
