Personally I think it's shocking some of the quotes I've been getting to drive a 1.6 BMW 15 years old for my first car, yes I know that it's a BMW and it's a 1.6, but honestly around £8,500 for a 300 pound car?
No wonder alot of 17-21 year olds don't bother insuring their car, its cheaper not too, police complain about young drivers not being insured but if they had insurance at a suitable price which people can afford then you would be able to insure a car.
another example is maybe because it is a BMW and my first car then the price is this steep, but for even a 1.2 fiesta or punto your still looking at nearly £2000 can be more than triple the value of the car.

Where have the police complained about young drivers driving uninsured.
As a young driver I wouldn't ever 'not bother' with insurance. Aside from being illegal it's just bloody selfish.
If I couldn't afford the insurance, I wouldn't buy the car.

We all know insurance is expensive - so why would you go and get a car you know will be even more expensive? I understand your principle that sometimes young people are paying more insurance than the value of the car, but theres a reason for that. You should at least play the game - get a couple of years no claims behind you then try for bigger boys cars!
I'm glad it's high for young drivers to be brutally honest. I'm not saying you personally are dangerous on the roads, but - and i'm sure there will be some accurate statistic - too many simply think they own the road. At least if it's high most will cherish their right to drive, as at the end of the day driving a car isn't a right. My rant over. HTH.

If its really expensive why not get a motorbike/bus/walk and save the car until such a time that you can afford it or even shop around like most people do a pick a car thats cheaper to insure? Driving is a privilege and not a right, your insurance is so high due to the risk you carry.
I am not bitter, i've had to put up with the insurance costs in the 4 years i've been driving (i payed more for my 1.1 206 at 17 than i do for my 335i at 21) and am rather fed up of these types of posts - cant afford it, get a bus.

I've always got the bus to work since I was 16 but there not very reliable where I live, and alot of the older generation say that the crashes on the roads are mainly young drivers not been able to hand the poor perfomance cars, which I don't believe is the case at all. People put the blame on young drivers and then rant about it when they die, but if they could afford insurance alot easier then they would be able to buy a car with more safety features than a 300 pound piece of metal.
and not to be too blunt but if you have had enough of young peoples car insurance posts then don't click on them and reply.

As far as I'm aware there arn't any cars with safety devices that protect you from being an idiot in a car. (not aimed at you op)and not to be too blunt but if you have had enough of young peoples car insurance posts then don't click on them and reply.
