Is anyone able to recommed a good insurance company/broker who deal with ex company car drivers? I've tried all the comparison sites and the other major firms but some want to start me back at zero NCB. I'm coming out after 8 years and I know things have got expensive but some of the quotes are eek

I don't think they are allowed to discriminate these days.
wink

You need to get a letter from the company insurance company and then try ringing up a real life person rather than using the internet sites. My brother had a similar issue but got there in the end - NFU or Aviva I think he used.

I was in similar situation a few years ago.

I went through a local broker (a acquaintance worked there at the time) who honoured my no-claims from company car driving which was 3 years at the time. All they required was a letter from my employer.

At renewal i went with Elephant but my proof of NCB said 4 years, i explained to my them how it had been acquired (just to be on the safe side) no problems and i've been totting the years up ever since.

The broker was Smart and Cook in Harrogate but the actual insurance was through Swinton.

I think the policy does vary from one to another but I'm pretty sure some of the big players do make an allowance for NC earned on oo cars - but it might be a case of ringing round rather than trying to do it on the net. Although I'm sure one of the comparison sites i used had a option to select NCB earnt via Co. Cars.

Hope that helps in part.

Thanks all,

Coming out after 8 years certainly has been painfull smile

I have the letter from my fleet company confirming my driving history. In 8 years there are 4 incidents, 2 were recovered and 2 were claims (broken into and some bumper damage). I hadn't considered Swinton. There is even an office of their on the local high st. May take my letter in there and see what they say.

Thanks again.

You sound dodgy to me.smile

Did you (or your company) actually make insurance claims for the break-in and bumper damage? Our fleet policy had a massive excess and we never claimed for anything minor.

How long ago where these incidents - you should be clear on anything over 5yrs ago and some companies only go back 3yrs.

Liverpool Victoria were good for me, and a few other people I know (my brother is with them and just before he opted out an uninsured driver T-boned his company car and wrote it off). However I know other people have tried them and found them to be way out.
