After trying various packing and then complete removal I have dremelled some slots into the moulding and fitted some velcro straps with a foam cut out in the moulding base.
Solution no more rattles and cannisters now tightly secured.

After literally seconds of thought in working out how to stop the rattle, I am guessing one of the previous owners just removed the tyre repair foam and got breakdown cover instead. hehe

Its horrible stuff, I personally wouldn't use it. I also removed the same from both our Smart cars for the same reason. Relatively ineffective and ruins the tyres its used on completely.

Agree, but just wanted it as it came from the factory with the foam in the slots provided. I might replace them with two cans of Relentless for the trip from here to Goodwood with a drip feeder threaded through the rollcage cover. I think I might be able to use some form of greenhouse feed system rigged up to the wide awake juice!

Anybody know whether this stuff has a shelf life? I think I have the originals in the car (5 years old now).

I have a strip of sticky velcro hooks running down the can. Sticks directly to the boot carpet.

Same thing on the toolkit and a first aid kit.

Works pretty well.

I just stuffed a rag down between the two cans. Simple.

Did they remove this section on the later cars? My cans are in the little bit under the carpet at the sides.

They must have - on the older model it is on the RHS under the carpet rearward of the wheelarch

By older, you mean later or earlier?

Mine is an 06 car - but they are where you say behind the drivers side rear wheel, under the carpet.

Older = less young, so earlier smile

There is a 'bin' shaped pocket in the floor under the carpet and the cans drop into it - holds 2 'medium' sized cans (the size of a 500ML beer can).

So earlier cars have the side bin, and later cars have it in the middle? Odd, mine doesn't confused

Admire your simplicity. I squashed the remainder of a roll of kitchen towel in there. Works a treat

I just discharged the can and stuck it in the gooey mess.
