Fuel line size

Car is finally running after rebuildand everything sounds ok.
Went down to garage to have a look at car with a mate of mine,he comented on why the fuel line
from the pump to fuel rail seems to small in diameter,he said if your running up to 500 bhp you would
need at least dash 6 or 8, rebuild guy was away today so could not ask him.
Any info would be great

Hi martin,as i said engine sounds sweet,just a few small things to sort out.
Been using some mineral oil for running in engine,havent been reving car as there was some small oil and water
leaks but all sorted now,hopefully will get car on dyno next week for some proper running.
Hope uv got your car sorted,and will be nice to have meet up in the cars

My garage have mapped mine off waste gates (0.5bar) and limited to 4k revs. I've been told to give it some stick but bring the boost in gradually rather than floor it. Bearings would have already bedded in (also using running in oil) on the Dyno but its the rings that need to bed properly.

Interested in what your engine guy recomends as the guy who did my balancing said that the car should be mapped to 3/4 and then get on a track day to run it in.

Dash 6 fuel lines at least seem to be the norm now from the pump to the fuel rail and the from the regulator to the tank return, especially if using the 044

Car is running a 044 and larger injectors,do you now what fuel pressure is avisable on this setup

std injectors normaly run at 3 bar pressure , -6 should be fine from pump . the gravity feed is more important ,on Funky we run -10 from the tank and -6 to the injector rail with a 044 pump .

for NA you really need -8 to get the fuel flow for 500bhp... on injection you are running higher pressure so -6 will go beyond 600bhp.

The place you can get a gain is from the tank to the pump -8 is really the smallest we want to be going as its gravity fed so pressure is lower... -10 here is perfect which like Funky is what I have gone to each pump with
