ITV1 now...really interesting.

At the minute a rather flash looking Customs boat (with a gun on the front!!!) has stopped a freighter. Anyway the crew of the Customs ship are wearing a dark blue customs insignia uniform with navy looking rank insignia....

Wondering....the guy in charge has been named as Commander Bloggs...would he be ex-RN? Does his Customs rank of "Commander" come with a Queens Commission?

I assumed the 'gun' was a water cannon, didn't think UK Border Agency were armed.

I've seen them before anchored up near me.

I didn't watch all the program, but they seemed to let a lot of people go, despite findind quantities of dodgy stuff on them. Like the Romanian trucker with the pull out trays and mondeo man with the 1000 packets of tabaco.

They could not prove the trucker had anything to do with the drugs. As stated, the trailer would have been picked up by him already loaded and the concealment already constructed, possibly/probably without his knowlegde.

Mondeo man lost the booty and would have had fun explaining to his company why their car had been seized by HMRC wink You can bet if he tried anyhting like that again he'd get his arse chewed by HMRC.

Loved this program.. I'd quite like to do this job, mostly the ones on the ships.

I also saw when they were with that big ship that the Metropolitan Police were there too, surely thats out of their area?

Ring, ring. Ring, ring. "Hello, Met Police Can I help you?"

Revenue man: "Hello its customs, we've caught some horrible scallywags can you come and arrest them?"

Plod: "Nope, it's a civil matter. Now what have they done?"

Revenue man: "We've caught them with 20 illegal immigrants, a number of firearms, seven girls who we suspect are child prostitutes, one ton of Cemtex labelled "FAO the IRA" and what appear to be priceless stolen goods from several countries around the world"

Plod: "Nope it's a civil matter".

Revenue man: And a documents describing a detailed plot to overthrow the British government using ricin an polution of the nation's water supply.

Plod: "Civil".

Revenue man: "Oh, and they've got a few kilos of cocaine, some Marlborough Lights and the driver had a bag of still warm donuts"

Plod: Well why didn't you say so, we'll have C div over there in ten minutes. Sounds like just the sort of thing we should be tackling head-on. Thank you for calling the Met.

I like the way they pointed out that more fags are smuggled into the UK than other European countries.
Why's that then?
Cos they're more fking expensive here, that's why.

yes Picked up on that and thought; there's an easy way to stop the smuggling. Also thought it an awful amount of trouble to go to in canning up the cigarettes in the coffee tins. Would have made sense if it had been drugs.
