I'm looking for advice on a brake issue I'm having.

The front nearside brake seems 'dodgy'. When braking from high speed the front nearside brake makes a 'throbbing' noise and a vibration that increases in volume the harder I brake. It is also producing a lot of brake dust compared to the other wheels.

I had new pads about a year ago and have done about 5000 miles on them.

That same wheel also had a slightly worn wheel bearing. Could this be the issue? The disc looks fine, but I suppose could be slightly warped. How can I tell?

Also...

My windscreen has always suffered the usual de-lamination in the bottom left corner, but it's getting worse and there are signs of it appearing across toward the centre of the screen. Anyone know of the approx. cost of replacing a windscreen? Any reputable sources in the South East?

Lastly...

My 500 has had a Taraka upgrade and puts out 325BHP, 320 ft lbs, which is healthy. But I'm still running the original ECU and air meter, with original dizzy setup. What are the advantages of a megasquirt setup (or equivalent)? Does that just replace the ECU or include getting rid of the air meter and dizzy? Does it improve performance or fuel economy or simply give you control of the ECU fuel map? From what I can glean of a search on PH's installing a megasquirt system is quite involved - new wiring loom etc. So it's a case of comparing the advantages with the cost and hassle.

Thanks in advance for the advice.

the brake is most likley to be a warped disk classic symptom - either replace the disk or better still good excuse for an upgrade. dont bother to skim them - they will just warp again

Agree with Jes, sounds like a warped disc. EBC (grooved & spotted) disc's are a good swap for OEM.

Mobile Autowindscreens have replaced mine & were pretty good. BIG TIP- insist on the surrounding seal being replaced, not recycled.

Your engine sounds healthy, I'd leave it be IMHO.

If you are replacing the rotors the EBC ones you need are GD150
Go easy with them initially though until they are bedded in. I've got a pair under the bench which need skimming after I hammered them.
