I think I have lost:
  • a head gasket
  • faith in a main dealer
Who would you trust to fix your ALPINA head gaskets in or around Edinburgh?

Bad news frown

I have no first hand experience of these guys - so I hesitate to suggest them - but the guys who run Village Garage specialise in BMW and are 'friends of a friend'.

Probably best to get recommendations based on actual experience though.

Not good Al, I have no beamer recomendations but can empathise regarding the main dealers. Going into Audi Edinburgh is like going into an upmarket brothel, not that I have experience of such things you understand!;)

Just a thought, but why dont you have a word with Hugh (Breakdown).

It may not be that bad - a leak has been induced under pressure, somewhere behind the inlet manifold/below the scuttle not visible without some considerable disassembly...

I'm considering getting the head gaskets done regardless, just to be on the safe side. I have a couple of recommendations to follow up.

Fluff,

We used Robert for years at the Village Garage (assuming it's the same one near Blackhall) for our beemers (old X5 and 5 Series). He specialises in beemers, bit of a petrolhead and is old school motor engineering guy - really careful, knowledgeable and best of all really quite reasonable !!!

It's going off to the Mill Garage in Longniddry tomorrow on the recommendation of several BMWCC folks. Andrew there has done at least one B10 ///M5 gasket upgrade previously and has worked on my blue car whilst at Dunedin so I'm happy it'll be in good hands.

Cheers for the tips folks. I've been thinking of getting a new garage since Dunedin went, this has been the kick I needed... wobble

Impressive sum raised - when you have more details post up a seperate link and i'm sure a few ££ can be raised on here to go towards the overall total. I'll pledge some money and if we have any run or meet, then why not have some fund raising for your friend. Sounds good to me.
