Seen this and thought it could be a potential way to sort out the bad radio signal in the noble.

I not sure if the sony stereo has a jack input on it? if so i think this would work as a radio

This is just an fm transmitter isn't it? It allows you to play your music through your car radio. Still uses the car aerial so I doubt it will work very well.

I assumed that it would have an aerial built into the transmitter? Ie so if u where walking around the town with your ear phones in it would pick up the signal? or if you where driving in ur noble it would pick up the signal?

More if you have a jack plug in the back of the Sony Unit in the noble is the issue maybe?

My TOM TOM has this feature and it is basically pants! The problem is finding a channel where another station does not interfere. May work better if your in the sticks, but anywhere near a major city and I just get interference all the time.

this unit does not connect directly to the stereo, it transmits your iPod signal to a given radio signal, which is picked up by the cars existing radio and ariel, and is used for playing your iPod music via your existing radio if it had no aux input, which the Sony does!

If u want to improve your radio and/or play music via an iPhone connect your iPhone directly to the back of the Sony unit using a 3.5mm jack in the headphone socket of the phone (can't remeber if i had to convert to VGA cable to connect to the stereo, i'll check later), u can then use your iPhone with a digital radio app which will be a perfect signal (mobile/3g signal allowing). U can also take phone calls via the stereo speakers too, although the noise of the car can make for interesting calls.

u will of course need to charge the phone and mount it somewhere, mine is out of sight by my right leg

That would be good please if you could let me know how you connected into the back of the Sony unit.

I upgraded my sony head uit which does have a plug and can play my ipod/ipone though the system. Cable goes from head unit yo a jack plug coing out of gear change console. just plug it in and ipod/iphone sit happily on the tunnel.

I went through this before and suggested the MEX-BT5700U Sony unit that comes with a external MIC (also has one on the head unit). You can connect/charge your IPhone from the USB socket on the front or you can stream/make calls via bluetooth.

Also the std jotstick that comes with the sts Sony unit also fits this unit.

TUX fitted one and loves it.

I have just brought the lower model 4700 as it does the same stuff but you can't sore phone numbers in the unit and the display has less pixels.
