Toyo's - Are these the right ones??

I am about to order some new tyres. I am going to stick with Toyos but am going to go to 40's at the front but retain the same width (225).
Before I press 'buy' can anyone jsut confirm that these are the right tyres? I think the T1-S replaced the T1-R and that I have the right speed rating etc..... Just dont want to end up with the wrong tyres! thanks :-)

do they not do a 235/35/18 for the fronts, 225 are a bit of a stretch if my memory serves me correctly.

There's no 235 35 option. There are 235 40's as an option but I dont want the wishbone rub. I thought I'd give 225 40 a go as I think that the extra height slightly reduces the stretch and gives a better ride.

T1 sport is the right ones, just got fronts myself, I have 35's on half inch wider rim, and they look fine, they came out wider than the previous Tyres.

I needed to do a wee bit of arch shaving and raise the front ride height by 5mm to accomodate the 225/40s. They seemed OK at first, but they were rubbing on heavy compressions or under hard cornering loads.

Not that big a deal, but worth mentioning.

My car sits higher at the front now since the shocks were refurbed, new springs added and the corner weighting completed. So I think it will be fine. In 2002 ish the Cerbs came with 40's at the front anyway (I think from memory).
I need new rubber as the Raceproved dyno struggles to hold my car down and apparently it would be better with newer, softer rubber. There is a shoot out at the RP open day in May and so I might see where the car is up to.

You read my reply before I decided to delete it for the very reason you mention! £128.10 for Toyo proxes T1-R for the fronts, you could always order the fronts from Camskill and get them fitted at the same garage for around £10 a tyre?

Good advice but to be honest I cant be bothered with the hassle. There is a tyre place near me, just off the Chatsworth estate, where I can get them fitted for £10 each and so the process for order, deliver, transport and fit is reasonably easy.

I see the rears are defined as 'XL' by camskill. I thought that was for estate cars and the like...!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh i need new tyres for mine and will put toyos on,but i am sure my rears are 245/40/18.The car is at Dufords at the mo so cant check Doh.They are 888s and have not noticed any rubbing.Fronts are 225/40/18.if i am right then i will order these sizes and hope;)

the standard rear tyre is 255 35 18 but 888's may not come in that size? If you are going for road tyres then I would suggest 255 35 18 as this will save any insurance hassle etc and are a proven size.

6 months on from this discussion I was wondering what the thinking was re 225's v 335's and 35's v 40's for the front? Particulalrly Gazzab and Spongy who took the plunge with 40's

I'm inclined to go for 225/40's as the 35's that are currently on there do look a little stretched. Mines an 04 car and reading back somebody seemed to think 02 onwards were fitted with 40's anyway

My 40's are going to come off and be replaced with 35's! They have been rubbing and I dont want to cut out arches etc... So its back to 35s.
