What's the PH opinion of the new Focus?
I've seen a few on the road and I don't think it looks that great, they've compromised the design too much by trying to make it a 'world car' rather than just for the EU. The figures on paper don't stack up that well next to a Golf either. Not driven one yet but the reports suggest its lost some of the fun from the older version which was always a good steer.

Not overly keen on the road version at all.
However, in BTCC guise... I think it looks great!

All the technology it's stuffed with sounds amazing. It is quite stunning how far cars have come on in the past few years, I had a 2003 mk1 Focus Zetec and the most sophisticated electronics in that outside of the ECU was the seat heater and the reverse parking sensor!
I've not driven it yet but I doubt it'll be as good to drive as a mk1 Focus. Thats a 13 year old design now, and it's still fantastic. In the three door guise with the Zetec kit it still looks very stylish and sharp, whereas this new one looks a bit bland. I can remember the Focus coming out and knocking the competition in the class for six. Technology wise, this car seems to have done that but what about the drive, the looks?

As said above, because it's a 'world car' the styling is too generic. It's even lost the Focus signature vertical tail lights.
I'm a big fan of the Mk1 Focus. That car broke new ground in the styling and dynamics departments. This new Focus doesn't really move the game on, other than the amount of tech that is available on the options list.

I was no fan of the pictures and still am not. However, I was in the second lane behind one in the inner lane and thought it was a big Fiesta and it looked quite good, to my suprise. Still not keen on the rear light extensions but this car was burgundy which helped hide them. Never saw the front.
It's been brought in line with the very successful Fiesta but has lost some of it's identity. I've never liked "family faces" and long for the early 70s when they had the Escort, Cortina, Capri and Consul/Granada all loking dissimilar and individual as did the Fiesta Mk 1 when it joined the party.

IMO its got a bit to mainstream , and to me a Focus should have vertical back lights. Having said that i don't think its ugly , just a bit boring.
If i was looking at this class of car i would be at the Alfa dealers now ordering the Giulietta.
Oh and why have Ford stolen someones bin-lids and use them as wheeltrims?
