...of a rock 'n' roll band.
A bit of an anecdotally musical thread; but have you ever been let down by a band?
Maybe it was a band you were in, where you ended up being the only one with a vision, whilst the others drifted off.
Or a band which you knew personally and which didn't, much to your annoyance, go on to fulfill its potential.
Or even a band with whom your relationship was never anything more than a few gigs or even just a poster on your bedroom wall, but who left you with a lasting bitter memory? Maybe simply because their song was playing when Mandy Roberts dumped you

Someone I knew well at College played in a band and was pretty good. Slept with my girlfriend at the time behind my back. So I pissed in his guitar in the Drama block where their equipment was kept, and then gave him a right jab to the gut later that afternoon.
He didn't end up doing that well with the band, although they were probably worthy of some decent gigs. So perhaps that's more of a victory for me. I don't know.

Brilliant! that must have stunk when it started to dry out.
Way back, went to my first gig at the BBC Paris theatre (still there? doubt it!) John Peel live show with a band called The Third Ear Band.
Mind blowingly rubbish. However, next on was Gary Moore's Skid Row. Unbelievable. They started before the recording and John Peel had to stop them!
Still a bit deaf from that night......

My cousin plays the drums for various bands in Leicester as a spare-time hobby. About fifteen years ago, a band approached him, saying they liked his work and they wanted him to join them. He said 'OK, send me your demo tape and I'll decide whether I like your stuff or not'.
He didn't like it and turned them down.
They were Kasabian.

I was once in a band and we were due to release a single and so we needed to arrange a few gigs to promote it. We were approached by another band who asked us to fill a second support slot at a gig they were organising which suited us as it was a gig with minimum effort from us to organise.
We turned up on the day successfully soundchecked and retired to the bar where we noticed a poster advertising the gig. It seemed this was some kind of benefit gig for a young girl with cerebal palsy which was a little awkward as the single we were promoting was called 'Cripple'.
We eventually split up after our singer got throat cancer which really is a sign from above that you should give up although he did eventually recover.
