300TDI Timing Belt?

Hello all, looking at buying an old (100k miles) Defender 90 300TDI. I'm not particularly mechanically minded but I know the timing belt can be an issue and I'm assured it has been replaced but not sure when.

So wondering if its not too costly whether to replace it just to be sure? Is it a costly thing to do? Is it something any mechanic could do? Given my lack of mechanical knowledge and work commitments I'd have to get someone to do this.

right if you want a new timing belt kit i have 1 i bought it 2/3 years ago never fitted it to my 300tdi disco as the head cracked so i scrapped the truck
