S500 AMG Coupe - did they make one ?

Not that I have ever heard of.
1996 has as 50/50 chance of being a CL500 (not an S500)although there were AMG kits that you could buy that were more common from 1992 to 1995/6 before they changed to the CL and then the kits tailed off.
There was certainly the CL70 and CL73 and rumours of a CL60 (more S60's - 6 litre V8 - are coming out of Japan nowadays) but for an AMG S500, it is probably a badge.
Price? How long is a piece of string. They are only as good as the maintenance that is put into them to be honest...and that costs a lot.

Thanks. Definatly an S500, so must be a late one with a few AMG options fitted from new then. I know it has the wheels, exhaust, and the badge !. Also has duo tone leather. Sale invoice was apparently for 114k.It sure has depreciated !. Any more PH opinions welcome. They aren't pretty either are they ?.
If an S500 then it is an early one (would not have the LCD display for the aircon and probably reversing prongs that come from the boot). That being said, I had a 1996 S500 that had prongs (so visually suggested an S500) and with the badge but was right at the turnover of the model change so was a CL underneath.
Easiest way is look at the climate control - if a collection of black square with red LED and a poverty looking thumbwheel on each side, it is a series 1.
Duotone is from the V12 - some ordered it as an option.
Sounds like a standard S500 and they ticked the boxes for the AMG bits and pieces.
I have had a few but the mistake that is often made is "oh, but so cheap". They are very expensive cars to run properly or else you just end up with a rapidly declining junkbox. Would you drop £1500 for suspension for example on a car worth not much more than that?
