Thanks for the hood cover advice

Thanks to those who encouraged me to get the Leven hood cover, it is great. For those who are yet to invest in one do it, you wont be dissapointed.

Has anyone tried it without the Targa pannel? I am wondering about weekends away leaving the lid at home?

Hi Mark glad you are pleased with the Leven Cover and I hope you are enjoying the Griff.

It is funny you should mention using the cover without the targa panel in place as I have recently started doing this. I am sure the hood cover is not designed for it but I often leave the roof panel stowed in the boot and fit the Leven cover. Where there is no roof panel when it rains a puddle of water appears where the cover sags in the middle due to lack of roof. Despite this improper use the cover has never leaked any water inside the car.

I did think about using a flat ali bar where the targa panel should be. Bent in the middle to form a ridge in the middle of the roof so it stops the puddle forming.
I've never got around to it but still might, as the puddle is a PITA to get out without wearing a bit yourself if its a deep one.
Its also worth carrying an old small towel to wipe it down before you put it away. There might not look like much water on it when its on the car but when you've got it all folded the rain drains into the folds then pees down your leg!

HAHAHAHAHAHA - A there was me thinking that was the only one stupid enough to try this out. It is a bit concerning the first time it rains as you do end up with a huge puddle which is challenging to shift. The small towel idea is a good one, i'll have to try that out. I do this all the time now as if you store the car outside then having to get stow the roof panel every time you want to drive and vice versa when you you get back home is a PITA. Also during the colder months it greatly reduces the condensation in the cabin.

Of course if you have a garage to store your car in then this is not an issue.

Well I'm glad that you guys would also rather risk it that try to get the targa pannel in the boot, I that I was just being a novice. I will see if I can come up with a decent strut to support the middle to avoid the inevitable puddle.
