Oh no, another new car thread!!!

Folks,

I have bored of my car, so it is time to change, but I am having an absolute nightmare figuring out what to get next. My current car is a Merc CLK500, which does absolutely everything I want from a car.

My criteria are:

• Purchase price - £20k (ideally, although may go up a couple of £kk for the right car)
• Age - no more than 5 years old
• It's got to be quick. At least the same performance as the Merc
• It must either be 4 seats, or a 2+2
• I must be able to absolutely rely on it to do 20 / 25k miles p.a (ie nothing that will break down as soon as the weather gets slightly inclement!)
• No hot hatches
• Monaro / VXR8 etc is out
• I'm not interested in massive & regular service bills (The Merc's 10k mile service is never more than £400)
• 996 C4S would be ideal, but we intend chopping my wife's car in for one of these next year

We have a Touareg that's used for family duties, so I don't need a particularly big car. To be honest, I'm leaning more towards a 2+2.

Aside from the 996 mentioned above, I have considered the following:

Jaguar XK (although, these are pretty much at the top of the budget)
Audi TTS (I really struggle to get excited about paying £25k + for an Audi)
E46 M3 (although I don't really want to pay the M Tax!)
E60 M5 (same as above)
E55K (a little too big)

There must be more - what have I missed!?!?!!?!?!?
