Dash out job..
Discussion
Hi Peeps..As my alternator is not charging cos the bulb behind the dash has blown i might need a dash out tutorial..Can the bulb be by-passed to save a dash out job..Has anyone taken out a 280 dash before,Also i have taken the stalk controls off and have found a connection for the blue and white wire although im not sure what it does untill i put the battery back in once its charged..I noticed also that the bracket is broken so i might need a new stalk control if anyone knows what it from..I will have a look on the lucas site..Many thanks..Ziga

OK, zigamyjig... a guide to the wiring:
Violet - ground
Violet/black - horn
Blue - from main lights switch, 12v when lights on
Blue/white - main beam } or the other
Blue/red - dipped beam } way round!
Green/white - RH indicators
Green/red - LH indicators
Green/brown - from flasher unit
Those clamps always break when people overtighten the screw. The whole switch assembly was lifted from the TR7 on early cars and the SD1 later. Very late cars had the Mk3 Granada switches. Yours looks like the TR7 type; try Rimmers for a new one. Between you and me you'd probably find the SD1 switch is the same, just the steel mounting plate is different.
