A4/M4 J12 at Theale was FUBAR last night, so I took evasive action for my trip home, intending to go Theale/Pangbourne/Wallingford/Waltington/Wycombe. Ended up taking even more rural roads West to the B4009 Newbury to Pangbourne road. No traffic, lovely thrash along the lanes to get to the B4009. Then I caught up with a Peuogeot 207 who was caught behind an old duffer. The road cleared and off the 207 sped, and for the next 15 or so miles of twisty, empty best of British B-road there was the 207, me in my Golf GTi and a guy in a black Polo behind, all knocking along at a lovely fast pace. Yes I could have passed the 207, but why? I didn't know the road that well, and he was doing well over the limit much of the time IYKWIM. Sometimes I'm glad to live in England with it's fantastic roads and to travel them with people who actually drive quickly, drive well and don't feel they're in a race.

Nice when it happens, unfortunately not very often!
