Just glimpsed this from afar on the BBC. Anyone seen any more detail? I'm thinking either ND or someone going a bit mental....

ETA Ok, apparently not 'on' now, just 'near'.

With any luck, a damned hippy has tried to get onboard and been slotted by the Upper Deck Trot (casing Sentry).

Southampton's not quite as secure as Faslane, after all.

Perhaps the shooter was disguised as an old tweed wearing women and hid aboard a bus full of OAPs rofl

A member of crew shot at two other members of crew before being overpowered.

One crew member has been declared dead.

What the fk. How easy is it to even access a gun on a submarine?

Surprisingly easy. Especially if you're given one for sentry/patrol duties.

It will have been shift change-over time for the sentries I'd imagine. So either one of the on going sentries or off going might have borne a grudge against someone.

Please tell me you didn't genuinely hope a hippy had been shot??

Regardless of whether you like them or not (I don't), I can't bring myself to actually wish death on them.

Sad news.

TBH I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often given the cheek by jowl living arrangements onboard, although I would have thought it to be more likely on board a bomber.

MOD have handed someone over to Hampshire police - wouldn't this suggest it was not a member of the armed forces responsible?

Edited to add that Sky are reporting it was a member of the armed forces!
