That is right, black football player, charged with improper conduct (racism) agianst...Black fans?!

Is this one of the signs that the apocolypse is near?

Political correctness goes even madder!

Ah, so black folks can;t be racist? If you'd worked in Africa, you'd realise that black folks are very racist against other black folk.

Last time I checked, Wembley wasn't in Africa. It is a fair assumption to make that the Ghanaian fans he did not even directly refer too live in the UK.

When I was gaoler in a police force I found it 'useful' never to put Africans in with those who regarded themselves as West Indians. Further, if an African had tribal markings you needed to ascertain is there might be a little friction between them and the other black African you had in your cells.

Rastaferians were generally no problem - to anyone - but some Africans could give them a tough time.

My Nigerian FIL seems to be cropping up on here quite often at the moment; his attitude towards other Africans and North American blacks is so totally shocking it is unbelievable.

There are lots of tensions between what he refers to as "Block Heads" (N.Am.Black) and "Round Heads" (Africans) that us white folk aren't aware of.

The emnity seems to go both ways!

Exactly. To think a black chap cannot be racist against another black folk is ridiculous.

It has always been the case that a black person can be convicted of racism against black people.

The same is true of indians - when one was called a word which I can't remember for the life of me but it meant brown on the outside and white on the inside, by a group of indians, they were convicted (and my irony meter is exploding but I also think the name of the case was R v White....)

Just makes our politicians apologies for things before I was born look even dafter.

There was a comedy song about this. I think the chorus ended with "and everyone hates the Jews".

We had an Afro/Carribean black on a shift of mine - in the days when he was a West Indian - and he got a fair bit of stick from any blacks he dealt with. They called him a coconut - black on the outside etc - but I could never tell if it got to him.

He was a lovely chap, a real character, but that didn't seem to influence some of the diehard racists in the nick. He would sometimes act the big thick black, giving it the language and the walk - his biddly bong act as it was called. It used to put those he stopped, especially whites, off their guard. He was a magic mimic and would speak with the 'Here man, you am dem stop here when dere is none of dem . . .' etc and sometimes when he brought a prisoner into the nick he would change to his Chelsea accent and sometimes the prisoner would start.

It was funny. What was not so funny was that his name was Fred and there was another chap on the shift called Fred who was white. Well, whiteish. He was somewhat unhygenic and his fingernails were always dirty. So he had the nickname Black Fred. All very confusing to a newly promoted sergeant on his first shift. The other PCs were about as cooperative as you would imagine, playing up to being confused by Black Fred and Fred who was black.

I always thought that Fred (the black) would get himself into trouble with one of his stops but it didn't happen while I was on shift.

Was the term 'coconut'? I heard some West Indians arguing in Birmingham once and that was a term used as an insult towards one chap!

When I lived in India (late 70's - early 80's) there was a social pecking order entirely based on colour. Dravidian southerners and such black africans as lived in (esp) big cities were at the bottom of this unpleasant colour-based discrimination.

It really quite surprised me when I heard the Indian guys at work slagging off the East European immigrants who were moving into their area of town.

Why?

Do you have any idea how racists most countries are? If not, travel to them and see !!!

England is (despite what the Guardian will tell you) one of the most tolerant places in the world IME.

Mrs Blib heads up the employment law department of a major European bank here in London. She often has to deal with cases of alleged racism in the workplace.

The vast majority of cases are between members of staff who are both of Indian sub-continent extraction. There's been some really vicious stuff in recent times.

God yeah. I would say that the UK is the least racist place in the planet.

Can white people be racist to other white people?

"There's only two kinds of people I really can't stand, those intolerant of other races and cultures, and the fking Welsh."

I think the above is a quote from Austin Powers, I might be out by a few words...
